The guestbook in it’s current form (aka The Viper Guestbook) has been disabled for a few reasons:
1)it runs awfully slow. My webhost, hostway, is partly to blame for this because their MySQL servers are ridiculously slow. They claim they can “upgrade” me to a faster server but I’ll lose all my web data (and any client-side web backups are never guaranteed and rarely complete).
2)it’s not close enough to perfect. I understand that I probably won’t find the “absolutely perfect” guestbook- I’m looking for an odd mix of features and usability. But this guestbook only scores an 80% in my book.
On the flip side, maybe it can be improved through configuration. For that reason, it’s only being disabled.
